All you need are some inexpensive heart doilies and craft paint to make beautiful tea towels, napkins, and even t-shirts that are perfect gifts for Valentine's Day! Check out how easy these are to make, and don't miss my other simple Valentine's Day projects !
It turns out doilies make the perfect stencils!
Supplies: For this project you'll need heart doilies (I would recommend higher quality paper doilies from the craft store vs. the dollar store variety which tend to be very thin), fabric paint (I love Martha Stewart multi-surface acrylic craft paint which acts like a fabric paint and is permanent on fabric), foam brushes or pouncers, and cloth tea towels or napkins.
Step 1: To make the heart print, lay the doily down on the tea towel or napkin where you would like the print to be and then use your foam brush and craft paint to apply a light layer of paint to the inside of the doily. Use an up and down blotting motion and be careful not to get paint outside the doily!
Step 2: Once you've covered all the doily holes with paint, carefully lift up the doily to reveal the design! Repeat with other hearts, using different sizes and even overlapping the designs if you like!
Here are a few tea towel examples for some inspiration.
Packaged up with a bow they make the perfect Valentine's Day gift!
