DIY Mini Barn Door

I love adding unexpected touches to my house and lots of different things to add character. If you’re at all like me you spend a bit of time on Pinterest looking for inspiration. I was searching there recently and found this beautiful chippy, peally old wooden door so I knew I just had to make one myself. Here's how it started out...


One board 9' x 10"x1" was cut into (6) 5" pieces for the back and then we used extra pieces from another project for the brace.  We screwed it together with drywall screws.




Once it was put together, I added the paint. I wanted it to be blue-ish gray but faded and antique looking so I used a dry brush technique to add the color onto the wood in several layers.



Once the colors were all muted and mixed together I added some distress ink to tone it down a bit. Here's how it turned out...
