Basement Bonus Room

I am here with our *almost* finished basement bonus room. I say almost finished because there are still a few finishing touches that need to be done but I will explain our plans later in this post. Let's first revisit the before of this space.

This was my wreath and workout equipment graveyard.  Honestly, I almost cannot remember it because it is sooooo different now.  (Yes, we still have the weight bench and the wreaths but the weight bench is in a different area and the wreaths are now organized and stored in a much better way.)

We cleared out the area, purged, reorganized, built 2 walls, finished the ceiling, painted, put up a half pallet wall and then moved new (to us) furniture into the area.   After all that, we were left with this...
Once the walls were done and the furniture was placed, I hung some decor on the walls, added lamps, replaced the light fixture and we bought a new TV.  Since then, we have been spending time in this room every.single.night.  We seriously LOVE this space!
Yeah, the hubs is a proponent for these darn 1990s gaming chairs.  We have two that have been collecting dust in the basement for 10+ years.  He was SO EXCITED to have a place for them to live.  And my kids think they are pretty great too.  So I was voted down for including these in the room 3:1.  Not even a throw can hide the ugliness.  I tried, see below.
*Sigh*
Oh well, I will just keep my eyes on the pallet wall, may favorite feature of this room.
The teepee even found a new home down here!

The faux fireplace is PERFECT!  As you know, basements can be cold.  But this fireplace kicks off a ton of heat and it warms up the room really fast.
Here is the view if you are sitting in the corner of the sectional.
Through the curtains, you will find our laundry area and the rest of the unfinished basement.
Big change, right?  Hard to believe this was the same space as the before pic!  It has come a looooooong way.  And almost everything you see in the room I already had on hand or my parents handed down to us.  However, we still have a few things to do, including mounting the TV on the pallet wall, trim and my dad plans to DIY a sliding barn door to replace the curtains hiding the laundry/storage area.

You might make chair covers for the gamer chairs. Kind of like the dining room/Parson chair covers you see everywhere. Something furry might be fun! ;)

I had to laugh hysterically at the before pictures, my storage room looks just like it. Lol if I need something, I have to dig my way in and out. I love the transformation, it looks so cozy. I was actually going to suggest a barn door for the laundry area, but saw I missed that is already in your plans. I have a suggestion for your wreaths you hung. I put mine on hangers and get those storage bags to put over them, so they don’t get dusty.
