It was my momma’s birthday recently and she is a fellow plant lover (let’s face it she rubbed off on me- tee hee). So it only seemed fitting to get her a gorgeous house plant, but when it came to the pot I wanted to make it a little more heartfelt and unique. Time to zest up some garden pots!! You can find decent sized terracotta pots at the dollar store, score!! Now we can make quite a few fun designs without breaking the bank….makes for a great christmas gift-hint hint!

Supplies:
  • terracotta pot & saucer
  • paint brushes, paint
  • glue gun
  • rope
  • whatever you want to zest!!

Got your goodies?
First I am going to do some geometric fun, grab that blue painter’s tape and have some fun with your shapes and stripes!
Love that pop of yellow!!
Now let’s add some texture, bring on the rope and glue gun and start wrapping, this may take awhile!!
A bit of a white wash on the top area with a dry brush, create strokes back and forth lightly.
Now I am going to “age” it a bit with some furniture wax….

In fact I love this look so much I am going to do another pot the same way….
And time for the wax…
Ready for the finished project!!
SO fun!! love that pop of color, I can’t wait to add more color with the plants!!
This is such an easy gift to give to someone! Especially your momma for Mothers Day! Or a pal for their birthday!
Now to find some homes for them…Now get to zestin'!!

Sam
