Backyard Patio Makeover

Our old patio wasn't working for us anymore. The walls were crumbling and tipping over. The size wasn't quite right - too big for just a patio table but too small for a patio plus additional furniture. The bricks were settling unevenly causing tripping hazards. It was time to deconstruct it and reuse the materials in a new way.

This is our completed patio!  We salvaged the bricks from the old patio, cleaned them up and laid them back down at ground level.

The deck was designed to accommodate our French doors off of the house.  We added a stacked stone retaining wall around this corner of the landscaping.

This is what the old patio looked like.  The walls were tipping over and many were no longer level.

Another view of the old patio.  We took the patio apart brick by brick.  The stone from the walls was moved to the back of our yard and used to build raised garden beds.  The red stone bricks were used for our new paver patio.

We bought the Adirondack chairs off of Craigslist and painted them lime green.

As we were putting the new patio together, we built this garden area in a sunny back corner of our yard.  We used the stone from the walls of the old patio to build 2 beds that are each 4' x 8' in size.  They are about 30 inches tall so we won't have to bend over to care for the vegetables.

There's a gate to access the garden and solar lights on top of each post.

Another view of the raised garden beds.

The patio is all at ground level for easy access to the yard.

This entire set of 2 chairs plus the two footrests and the side table cost $75 from Craigslist.

Beautiful makeover and a pretty backyard! I can just imagine how soothing and relaxing it is after a hard days work to just sit out there and enjoy the peace and quite of nature. I also just love your garage and wanted to ask if those are fake windows with pretty window boxes? If so what did you use to represent your glass?

How much did this beautiful mako ER cost?

It was approximately $2,000. Luckily we didn’t have to buy much material since we could reuse what we already had.
