Friends and family will love your stylish and handmade serving tray. Today we're sharing a stencil tutorial showing how easy it is to craft a tray using our Radiance Mandala Stencil. Let's take a look...
Let's walk through the steps for completing this project. First we rounded up the supplies needed which included a 17 inch wooden round from Home Depot, a two inch dense foam roller, a stencil brush, Benjamin Moore Ben paint in Navajo White, Varethane Stain in Whole Navy, Varethane Polyurethane in gloss, and our Radiance Mandala design.
With all of our materials on hand, we were ready to start stenciling. We sprayed the stencil with repositionable spray adhesive.  When the adhesive felt slightly tacky but not overly wet (about 5 minutes after spraying) we then placed it on top of the wooden round.
When we were comfortable with the placement of the stencil, we patted it down. The adhesive helped hold it in place.
We used a two inch dense foam roller to paint the pattern in Benjamin Moore's Navajo White. The excess paint was rolled off onto a piece of paper towel.  Too much paint will cause the design to bleed.
A stencil brush was used to paint the intricate portions of the mandala pattern.  We dipped the brush into the paint and then brushed off any excess on a piece of paper towel.
After the pattern was painted, we lifted the stencil to reveal the mandala design.
Now it was time to add a little color to the wooden tray. We used Varethane water-based wood stain in Whole Navy.  We dipped the bristle brush into the stain and then painted it onto the wooden circle.
Then we brushed the stain off with paper towel and revealed the pretty pattern.
Next, we sealed our painted pattern using a Varethane Polyurethane in gloss.
When the tray was dry, we drilled holes to attach the handles. Three inch handles were purchased at Home Depot. Then we stepped back to admire the beautiful Mandala Stencil Pattern.  We are about to flood you with some beautiful eye-candy!
We love the stylish flair that this intricate Mandala pattern gives this DIY wooden tray. See the full video tutorial on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Cutting.Edge.Stencils/videos/10154273185181770/
