How to Design a Farmhouse Kitchen on a Budget

We purchased this home and it was a complete mess and definitely a “fixer upper”. I knew we could turn this large kitchen into what I have always dreamed of a “Farmhouse kitchen”. I have always wanted a large farmhouse kitchen done in black and white and here I will be sharing how we managed to do it.
Here are a some of the updates we have done so far to the Kitchen
Paint: the entire kitchen was painted in a light grey with white trim
Lower Cabinets: lower cabinets on one side of the kitchen were in good shape, so all they need was painting and new hardware.
Upper Cabinets: The Upper cabinets were huge and pretty dirty. Instead of taking the cabinets completely down, cabinet doors were removed. Leaving the rest of the cabinet for open shelving.
New counter tops, lighting, sink and flooring was updated
Adding Farmhouse Decor to the Kitchen on a Budget
As I work on decorating our new to us “fixer upper” home, I’m really tried to focus on bringing things in that are from local thrift stores and repurposing them as well as handcrafting my own items with pieces that I have already. That doesn’t mean I don’t make the occasional purchase from Target, Wayfair, Ikea, and Amazon, it just means that the more I save the more I can decorating and update the rest of our home.
