How to Build Pretty Shelves to Hold Heavy Stuff

1 Week
Easy
In this post, I share how to build beefy shelves that will hold heavy stuff but still look great.
2x4 furring strips, screwed into wall studs, are a key component of these shelves.
Crown molding and veneer edging help hide the 2x4s and plywood edges.
After plenty of putty, caulk and paint, these look professional - and will hold some serious weight.

I only see one end of the shelf. Is the other end also next to a wall? If it wasn't ,how is that end done? I don't have walls at either end. Do I just add brackets or do you have other ideas about that. I really like how you did these.

    These don't look like 2x4s. Maybe 1x4s?

    Can you use 2x3’s?
