DIY Reclaimed Pallet Wood Sliding TV Cover

Don't you love a project that serves double duty? This started off as a reclaimed wood art piece and ended up being a cover that hides the television. We call it functional art!

Now you see it. Now you don't. 
First, we gathered our pallet boards, sanded them and stained them various shades.
The 1/2" plywood base of the TV cover is 18" x 36" so we’d end up with a rectangle that would make 2 equal squares when cut in half. Using a mitre saw, we covered the plywood with the pallet boards alternating the colors. There's more detail in the blog post on how we made the pattern.
We used more reclaimed pallet boards to make the sides of the box and then cut it into half.
Using medium-duty full extension drawer slides and 2" X 3"s, we mounted the TV cover into the studs.
Please note: The TV cover we made is for a smaller, 24” television. We haven’t made one for a larger TV so we’re not sure if the hardware would work for something heavier. If we were to make this again, we’d use longer drawer slides and go with a heavy-duty slide instead of medium-duty just to be safe. The medium-duty slides we used hold 75 pounds and the finished cover is about 25 pounds so it should be strong enough to hold the weight.
