Turning Concrete Floors Into Faux Wood With PAINT!!!

7 Materials
If you have a boring concrete floor and would like to add a little personality and charm - I have the answer for you!!!
See how fast you can transform your concrete floor!!!
Natural concrete floor
This was an area of the studio that needed to have a little interest and lighten it up!!!

I started with the natural concrete floor - swept (for the first time in a while) LOL - cleaned with water and then did a 50/50 water & vinegar solution to "etch" the concrete.  This helps to open the pours of the concrete and will allow the paint to adhere better.

Then make sure to allow the floor to dry for at least 24 hours - you don't want to trap any moisture!

Gather your supplies!
The floor preparation was most of the work for this project.  Now, we need to gather the supplies.  You need the Wood Grain roller, Stamping Handle Applicator and Converter Bar.  OH, and yes - paint........General Finishes Chalk Style Paint - Chapin Grey!

Now - we have over 45 different Roller Patterns - so you may choose the one you fall-in-love with!!!
Let's get Rolling!
Assemble your roller and load the sponge applicator with your favorite paint color - I used General Finishes Chalk Style paint - Chapin Grey.   I also used the pole from one of my brooms to insert in the handle - was much easier standing up to do this!!!

Also - check out this video to see how to load the roller:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vazDdeSo3sk
Faux Wood Floor
Using the Wood Grain roller to roll this floor only took about 10 minutes!  Now, there were areas that the roll didn't get to - so, I hand painted those lines to finish out the edges!  This was pretty easy - a Liner Brush and some water downed paint!
Of course - I couldn't just leave it with a faux wood grain - I had to add some stenciling for added Charm!!!

My Hampton Medallion stencil, 1" stencil brush and Modern Masters Metallic Teal Paint.

Make sure to off-load your brush and use the dry brush technique so that you don't have "bleed-unders"!!!
Stenciling in action - love the contrast of the Teal on the soft Grey wood grain (my faux White Wash look)!!!

I just spaced them out randomly!
The completed Faux Wood Grain - White Washed floor with a few random stencils!!!

Allow the floor to dry overnight and then protect with your favorite Top Coat!  I will be using the BM Stays Clear - at least two or three coats - we get a lot of traffic through this area!!!

Have fun and make your concrete floor come alive with this simple, easy and fun project!!!

Love the idea. Do you know if this work on a driveway? We live in FL and the heat takes toll on the concrete.
