Creating My Dream Sideboard

Karen Rossman Clark
by Karen Rossman Clark
A dear friend gave me an antique French kitchen shelf years ago. I finally found a sideboard that had legs that matched at a yard sale. I painted them out in two tones of beige and made it into one piece. I am now moving on to kitchen cabinets using the sideboard for inspiration.
Finished sideboard with shelf. I made the decorative reliefs on the drawers and doors using a stencil with joint compound.
Shelf before painted a sage green
Used two tones on the sideboard.

You can use that same technique of stencil plus joint compound to put reliefs on most anything like walls. I used it when I did an old cupboard that I used for display in a business. I ran aspen leaves down the sides of that cupboard.....I will try to find a picture. My daughter is now the owner of tha old cupboard. It was too huge for my home.

Karen, you did a beautiful job. How lucky to find just the right piece to put them together.

@patty Thank you. I did spend years thinking about doing it before actually getting the bottom piece. A friend actually found it and told me about it.
