How to Make a Free Farmhouse Clock From Scrap Wood!

2 Materials
Have you too noticed the farmhouse clock craze of late?

Well, I couldn't just stand by and watch it all happen!

So I dug through my scrap wood and junk pile stash, dreaming up a way to create my own take on a clock... with no working clock parts in stock I might add.

The result is a fun take on a classic... you'll soon see what I mean.

Who wants to be on time anyway?!

Here's how I made this:
Reclaimed wood fence planks were laid side by side, then a perfect circle was drawn on top using a safety pin, string and a pencil.

Ever try this? It works great!
Then using a jigsaw, each board was cut along the drawn lines, followed by a good sanding.
Next, the boards were mounted together using boards supports on the back.

(Blog link below shows full tutorial)

Once boards were joined, the edges received a good sanding to even the circle out.

You could also look for wood rounds found at major hardware stores if you wished to skip creating one from scratch.
How to make a Farmhouse sign (in minutes).

But a farmhouse clock just wouldn't be complete without a farmhouse sign, no?!

A plank was painted out in black, then the small Farmhouse stencil (found HERE) was painted on in white.
For a little rustic twist, twine was wound around both sides of the sign.
How Farmhouse fun is that?!
Because I didn't have a clock working kit at home (and was too lazy to run into town for one), I collected random junk to hang on the clock face instead.

Quirky stars (from the stencil Christmas Graphics) were painted on in between house numbers and other junk to create added clock detail.
A can opener and a gate hook became the clock hands. And a wire hanging garden basket became a clock cage.

Just goes to prove, it pays to hoard junk, yes? (I clearly need an excuse..)

You could totally outfit a working clock mechanism into this clock face if desired, however I liked the junk factor!
And the result? One crazy farmhouse junk-styled clock that could care less what real time it is.

I like the way this clock thinks...

This is such a great idea, I love it, everyone has junk laying around, right? Antique stuff would be great for this project. I like the idea of the clock not having to be correct time!!
