DIY Coat Tree for Under $7

$7.00
2 Hours
Easy
Our little guy now has a place to hang all of his dress-up gear (did you know that boys can amass quite a bit of that stuff?). We are still in the process of getting his room completely done, but this coat tree has helped us with the organizational part. The best part about it is that it cost under $7, took less than 2 hours and looks great!
Before you get started, gather your supplies.
Supplies needed:5 Conduit pipes (we used 5ft ones)Pipe Bender (we borrowed this from my Dad)2 Zip TiesColored Yarn/StringMeasuring Tape
**You can see more pictures and a bit more information on my blog.
DIY Coat Tree out of Electrical Conduit.
Close-up of the yarn covered zip ties.
Step 1: Decide what angle you want your bend of your base to be. Line up your marked bend (we did it with a sharpie) and bend until you arrive at the desired angle (we bent at 3 inches with a 90 degree bend).
Step 2: Double-check to make sure your bend and pipe are going to be level when they stand up. If level, continue bending the remaining pipe bottoms.
Step 3: Mark where you want your bend for the top to be (we marked at 6 inches). We wanted to bends so that it flared outward, so we bent at 2 inches at 45 degrees and then 6 inches at 90 degrees.
Step 4: Continue bending all pipes.
Step 5: Put your tree together using zip ties. Cover the zip ties with yarn or string.
6. Enjoy your new coat tree.

    • @Lynne Awesome! Just a note - I made mine for a toddler (so hence the 5ft rods), you will need to buy the full-size pipes. =)
