I've always been under the impression that I shouldn't spend money on something that I can make. I will say, this project definitely challenged my patience, but overall it was fairly simple to put together. Here is a unique and simple way to create your own DIY Area Rug! It's great for nurseries or near an bed side table!

Step 1:
With the yarn of your choosing, wrap it around your fingers 4 to 6 times in the shape of an oval.
Step 2: Next you will want to cut a piece of string (or extra piece of yarn) and tie the string in the center to create a bow-like look.
Step 3:
Repeat this process several times as these pieces will be attached to your rug canvas.

Step 4:
Once you have created enough pieces, lay your rug canvas flat on the ground.
With a bobby pin (or a latch hook), with the bobby pin attached to the string enter through the square hole on the rug canvas and exit three square holes over. Next you will want to tie the two strings together on the canvas.

Step 5:
Repeat until the entire rug canvas has yarn bows attached.

And there you have it! Your very own area rug. Thanks so much for watching! In terms of care, I use a handheld vacuum to remove dust and debris. I have not washed the canvas yet as I have not ran into any stains!
