Valentine's Day (And Interesting Facts About the FULL MOON)

Here's wishing the HT community a Happy Valentine's Day with a question: What do you do to honor this holiday? As for me, I usually send cards, and most often I make them myself.

The first three images in today's entry are a sampling of ones I created a few years ago, by combining images of my snow-filled garden with things I drew in KEYNOTE (a program on my MAC) and adding a caption.

However, I am not the only one in this household that gets into the Valentine's sprit; my buddy, Mr.-Moon-In-The-Man*, whom I've spoken about in a number of entries here on HT, is sharing his "role" as succulent garden emcee with Cupid. They can be seen together in the fourth image (taken in my succulent garden) of today's entry.

This is Mr. Moon-In-The-Man's first Valentine's Day in my garden, but Cupid's been here before under the "reign" of a different emcee, Ms. Juggler-of-Hearts. A photo-op of cupid with Ms. Juggler of Hearts and the cast of characters who spent Valentine's with them can be seen in the fifth placeholder. Close-ups of the cast of characters attending last year's Valentine's Day soirée are featured in placeholders six through nine.

All of them have returned this year but are "into" different things than they were last year. At the moment, they have not even headed into my succulent garden; rather, they are hanging out in my armoire (images ten and eleven) catching up on each other's lives and welcoming a few newcomers.

The newbie in image ten is the blond on the lefthand side of the picture. Her brother (seen in image eight with a clown) spoke so highly of the events that take place here on Valentines Day that she decided to join him this year! She looks just like him, don't you think?

As for the newcomers (the King and Queen of Hearts) in image eleven, they are rehearsing for an appearance that they hoped to have on Dancing With the Stars. They were somewhat mortified that I don't own a television (by choice), but they agreed to strut their stuff for all of us to see. Close-up photo-ops of the happy couple can be found in placeholders twelve through thirteen.

AND that's it for today, dear reader, but before I go I wanted to share with you something Mr. Moon-In-The-Man told me about full moons and February which is this:

"Since the Moon takes about 29½ days to go through an entire cycle of phases, every once in a while we'll just miss having a full moon in February--most recently in February 1999. Because the Moon reaches its full phase at a particular instant in time, whether or not you have a full moon in February can depend on your time zone. For example, in 1980 the Moon was full on February 1 at 2:21 Universal Time, which is five hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time. For someone in England, that full moon occurred in February (just barely). But at the same moment in North Carolina, it was still January 31. Since the next full moon wasn't until March 1, we had no full moon in February that year.
The next February we'll have no full moon will be in 2018." (More info on this csm be found @ http://www.wral.com/weather/blogpost/4470081/)
