Fancy Vintage Planter From 2 Thrift Store Sconces

I created a fancy vintage planter out of two thrift store sconces. The large white sconce is upside down. The second sconce is right side up. Both are then screwed together to create a pretty vintage planter.
This fairly large decorative metal sconce was at a thrift store and right away I knew it would make a lovely planter. The "tray" (top of sconce) is flat with a lip and large enough to hold a potted plant. Turned upside down, it was easy to see the potential. Since the tray and sconce are metal, it wouldn't matter if it rusted just a bit. Rust adds to the overall patina.
The second addition to the planter is another thrift store sconce--the gold one you see on the bottom. This was a Home Interiors product, I believe, and it held a glass shelf at one time. It would be perfect with the large white sconce if I painted it white.

I spray painted it white and combined it with the large white sconce in the right side up position. Drill holes were made into the underside of the bottom of the flat "tray" of the top sconce, and both pieces screwed together. You can see the bottom sconce was already equipped with convenient screw holes for this purpose.
