Our fascination with popsicle stick bracelets began when grandma gave us a box of popsicle sticks last summer. She told us you could make bracelets from them by boiling them in water.

So we put it to the test and thus far have made three different types of popsicle stick bracelets. (View each style on our YouTube Channel). We're super excited to bring you another original creation from Kids Crafts by Three Sisters — "Rainbow Friendship Bracelets" using popsicle sticks and tissue paper.

This craft is so easy that kids can make beautiful DIY jewelry as gifts for teachers, friends or relatives. In actuality, the steps to shape popsicle stick bracelets are always the same, it's up to you how you want to decorate.

Watch the video above to learn how to make your own Rainbow Popsicle Stick Friendship Bracelets OR read the step by step guide below.
Boil the Jumbo sized popsicle sticks for about 30 minutes and let them soak another 30 minutes. While those are on the stove top line your glass jars or plastic lids to mold the wet popsicle sticks .

PRODUCTION TIP: Boil more than you'll need because some of them will break when bending the popsicle sticks to fit inside a glass jar or lid. Totally normal.
Gently bend the popsicle sticks slowly to fit inside a glass jar or lid. We bent our popsicle sticks by rocking them back and forth first as seen in the video.

PRODUCTION TIP: We've also done this with a drinking glass, so use whatever you have around the house.
Let the popsicle stick bracelets dry in the glass jars or lids overnight. When you wake up the next day they will be dried in a beautiful bracelet cuff shape.
Now for the fun part....DECORATING! For a seamless look, we painted the underside of our popsicle stick bracelet with a light layer of black.

PRODUCTION TIP: Avoid putting heavy coats of paint or glue on your popsicle stick. This could cause the bracelet to expand and loose it's shape. So LESS IS MORE ;-)
Cut very small strands of tissue paper, approximately 8"h x 1"w, and twist them individually.

PRODUCTION TIP: If you want to fit every color of the rainbow on your popsicle stick bracelet, make sure the tissue paper is thin. If the tissue paper is too thick you might not get every color on your bracelet.
Apply a small amount of Mod Podge to the bracelet and wrap the tissue paper around the popsicle stick face.
Repeat this step until your popsicle stick bracelet is covered with tissue paper.
Trim any extra tissue paper hanging over the edge of the popsicle stick.
Apply a final coat of Mod Podge Gloss over all the tissue paper colors. This will not only protect your bracelet from moisture, but give it a nice shine.

THAT'S IT! Have fun and get creative. If you enjoyed this DIY, check out our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/kidscraftsbythreesisters
