DIY geode soap is a lot easier to make than you might think and is a fun way to explore your creativity.

You can learn how to create your own gorgeous DIY geode soap with my soapmaking tutorial below. However, if you'd like additional step-by-step photos of the process be sure to check out the original post on my blog here.
You'll begin the process of creating your DIY geode soap with a clear melt and pour soap base. Using a digital scale, weigh out 4 oz. of this base, then cut it into small chunks and shards of various sizes.

Now sprinkle about four pinches of skin safe iridescent or sparkling glitter onto your soap chunks. If you're concerned about the environment, you can now purchase eco-friendly biodegradable glitter.
Now roll up a small piece of aluminium foil into a tight ball. Set the foil inside the center of your soap shards.
Now weigh out 2 oz. more of your clear melt and pour soap base. Heat the base in 15-30 seconds in the microwave, just until it has melted. When the melted soap base is cool enough to handle, drizzle a small amount of the base onto your soap chunks.

Take care not to burn yourself! You can use a candy or meat thermometer to test the temperature of your soap.

Next, begin working the soap chunks into a ball around the foil ball using the melted soap base as "glue" to hold it together.

You will need to be patient during this step. It's easy to think it's not going to work as the chunks won’t want to stick together at first. But as you keep working the solid soap chunks together and alternately pouring the melted soap onto the chunks, the soap chunks will start holding together.

As the chunks start sticking, work them into a ball of soap. Once you’ve formed a solid ball of soap, you’re ready for the next step.
Now weigh out an additional 2 oz. of clear melt and pour soap base. Cut into chunks.

Then weigh out another 2 oz. of clear melt and pour soap base and melt in the microwave.

Add colored mica powder to suit to the melted soap, then mix to combine.

Use the colored melted soap as glue for the new chunks of soap you just cut. Adhere the new soap chunks around the ball of soap with the melted soap base you just made until the entire ball is covered.
Before the soap fully cools, dust the top of the soap ball with sparkly white glitter.

Follow with a colored mica powder that compliments the color you used previously.
Now weigh out 2 oz. of clear melt and pour soap base into a large container. Cut into chunks and melt in the microwave.

Add a soap colorant or mica powder of your choice to suit and mix well.

Now dip your DIY geode soap ball into the colored soap until it’s coated with about half of the melted soap in your container.
Set the soap ball aside on a wire cooling rack to solidify further and sprinkle with black cosmetic glitter.

Once the soap ball has solidified, dip it back into the remaining red melted soap. Roll the soap ball around in the melted soap to coat the soap ball with about half of the remaining soap.
Remove the DIY soap geode and allow it to solidify again by placing it back on the wire cooling rack.

Now mix some cosmetic black glitter to suit into the container with your remaining red melted soap.

Sprinkle more cosmetic black glitter onto your DIY geode soap ball.
Now cover the soap geode with the remaining soap in the bowl.

Yes, it's really messy! But that's part of the fun!

Keep spooning the melted soap over the DIY soap geode you are forming until you’ve used all of the soap left in your bowl.
As the soap cools it will become gummy. As it does this, you can slowly start to smooth the outside of the ball with your hands.

Now place your crystal DIY geode soap ball onto your wire cooling rack to finish hardening. You can smooth out any rough edges while the soap is in this stage.
Once the soap has cooled and hardened, use a hot knife – you can just run it under hot water – to carefully cut your soap geode in half. Work around the foil in the center using the knife to cut around the diameter of your soap geode.

Then carefully remove the foil from the center of your DIY geode soap.
You've now made your first DIY geode soap! Hooray!
These look really cool outside in the sunlight!

If you're wondering if you can make your own DIY geode soap even if you've never made soap before - yes, you can! This soap was my first try!
You can also put cool "glass" hearts into the center of you DIY geode soap. Visit the original post for this soapmaking tutorial at Soap Deli News blog here to learn how!
