Do you work from home? Do you lack a designated office space? Do you like watching the Today show while answering emails? Are you tired of holding your laptop in your lap? Well, I've got the perfect solution for you and the only tool you really need is a drill. I'm going to show you how to make the best mobile sofa laptop table out there. It's cheaper than buying it in the store and it has additional storage for magazines or books. You can even personalize it to fit your style. MAKE IT PINK ... Just kidding . Make it pretty.
Here's what you need:
- 1x12x6 board
- 4 – 6 in. x 8 in. Shelf Brackets
- 3/4 #8 Spax Screws
- 1 1/2 #8 Spax Screws
- 4 –5/8″ Roller Ball Casters (Optoinal)
- Paint or stain of choice
Once you have all the pieces cut, stain and or paint the wood. Spray paint the brackets to fit the look and style you are going for.
Next assemble the base to the side panel.
Flip it over and attach the top to the side panel.
And with the addition of the magazine storage and some casters you are all set. pick your favorite spot on your sofa and roll up your desk.
But be fore warned. This table is so cool, you may have to fight the kids to get to use it.

Cute! The bright brackets become a fun detail instead of boring brackets :-)

Have a question about this project?
My couch only has a 2" clearance. Is that enough room for the casters?
Love your idea! Now, how about something for holding your book while reading in bed?
what are the dimensions you cut all the wood pieces to? And were you able to get the pieces for the extra storage out of it as well?
