I love the convenience of cleaning wipes but I do not like the price or the quality of the cheap ones. So I decided to make my own, using ingredients I already had on hand. Strong paper towels, water, vinegar, and Dawn dish soap make some great cleaning wipes and for just over 50 cents per roll.

Here’s the step by step instructions.

Take a roll of Bounty or Viva or higher quality paper towels and cut the roll in half, using a knife.

Place half of the roll of paper towels in an airtight container.

    In a separate bowl, combine

    1 1/2 cups warm water

    2 tablespoons white vinegar

1 1/2 tablespoons Dawn dish soap

I have used this basic recipe to clean spots on carpet for over 25 years. I about a tablespoon of vinegar and Dawn and more water to fill a spray bottle, but it works as well as anything I have purchased. We always have a bottle on hand for pet cleanup. When we have carpets professionally cleaned they always ask what we use and tell us that is about the best possible solution, because it doesn’t damage carpet, plus it disinfects and doesn’t leave odors.
