I bought this beautiful white bed without the roses on the headboard! I forgot to take a photo of the "before", but I can show you the process!
As it is made with "esterilla" (HELP English speakers! I don´t know what is the word for this! I think the material is wicker braided in small squares). I thought I could use these little squares to embroider something in cross stitch.
I collected many patterns from the web but I had a difficulty: the number of squares I had was very reduced, and that meant the number of stitches I could make wasn't as many. So I went looking for a different pattern and I found this pattern with more or less the width and length I needed. Off to work!
I didn´t work with thread as in a normal embroidery but rather with ribbons that covered the size of holes I had.
Work in progress....
... and final result!
A lovely and unique bed!
To be honest, at the beginning I thought I would embroid the footboard as well. But after the headboard work, it was really exhausting, so I decided not to! Anyway, I love the way it looks!
Enjoyed the project?

No question I just had to comment! That is the most beautiful bed I think I've ever seen! 💖 That you "embroidered" the roses into the wicker is amazing and a technique I have never seen before and would have never thought of in a million years! It gives me great ideas for future caning/wicker pieces tho!! 💖

Have a question about this project?
Could you use yard instead of ribbon like a thick thread look?
oh my goodness! I love our community. so creative! LOVE LOVE LOVE how you used ribbons! Just a suggestion: Maybe you need to just take the foot board in set chunks of time, wh? Just do leaves across? and you may want to think about getting a dowel slim enough to go through the holes in the wicker work and cut it into 6 or 8 inch pieces, sharpen the one end with a pencil sharpener, and the other, drill a hole to thread he ribbon through; might make it less exhausting to do :D This is such a great idea!
Absolutely gorgeous......where did you ever find this beautiful, unusual bed? I want one!! Agree with Heather from the UK that I would add "something" to the footboard, as well.........very creative!!! Congrats!!
Your idea is genius and so beautifully executed! Could you perhaps highlight the roses on the footboard with color to coordinate with the flowers on the headboard? It's beautiful just as it is though.
