How to Make Cheesecloth Ghosts With Stiffy Mod Podge
This Halloween Craft is an oldie, but goodie. We've seen many different ways of making DIY Halloween Ghosts from Cheesecloths and had to give it a try. Honestly, it was SO easy I can't believe we didn't do it earlier.
The hardest part really is finding the items around the house to create the ghost body and then letting them dry. Our spooky ghosts have been a big hit around the neighborhood. Hang them on the porch or in the house for Halloween.

Use whatever you have around the house to make the ghost body. We used a balloon for the head, aluminum foil for the arms and bucket for the body. Styrofoam balls also work well for head shapes.
Tape the balloon to the sides of the jar to keep it secure during the draping process.
To give your ghost arms, roll the two pieces of aluminum foil and stick one end in the jar on each side. Feel free to bend the the foil to give your arms joints.
Pull apart the cheesecloth and pour Stiffy Mod Podge into the bowl. Next you'll want to dip the entire cloth in the liquid. Make sure to saturate the entire cloth.
Now, peel the wet cheesecloth apart and drape it over whatever materials you found around the house to shape the ghost body. Multiple layers give the ghost a realistic effect.
If you are giving your ghost arms, make sure to tuck the cheesecloth under balloon and around the aluminum foil. This will accentuate the ghost head and arm from the body. Let the cheese cloth dry overnight.
After 6-12 hours, the cheesecloth will be dry and stiff. Peel the ghost from the materials used to create the head, arms and body shape.
PRODUCTION TIP: Because we used balloons for the head, they naturally deflated overnight and peeled themselves away from the cheesecloth by morning.
Time to give your ghost eyes. We cut two ovals out of Black construction paper and hot glued them to the cheesecloth. However, feel free to use Black Acrylic Paint if you'd rather skip the hot glue gun.
The final step for this super easy DIY halloween kids craft is to string thing wire through the head and hang. THAT'S IT! They make adorable Halloween Decorations.
