Thrift Shop Wood Bowl Makeover... ❥

Upcycling old and battered Thrift shop finds is a great way to create beautiful gifts. And with Christmas coming, it's time to start thinking about what to gift to whom. This is a very economical way to create something new from something old. Here's what I did...
Here I have a dollar find from the thrift store.
This wooden snack bowl is looking a bit sad and much past its best.
But lets get out the paint and change that!
I love paint  in all of it's glorious forms.
But I particularly like spray paint.
Rust-oleum primer and paint in one can is just the best.
It has a new design no clog nozzle that allows you to spray the paint from any angle for perfect coverage every time.
This bowl has had two coats sprayed on the base (with a 20 minute dry time between each coat.)
And then was turned over for the inside of the bowl to be sprayed using the same procedure.
This paint is quick dry so after 20 minutes it is completely touch dry.
And once the paint dries this colour - which is called 'Robins Egg'
has a wonderful matt finish.
I love it because it is just like a chalk paint patina.
And I am a big fan of chalk paint.
This is a super quick and easy to do project.
And the end result is beautiful.
What a wonderful gift for someone special...made all the more special because it was something old that was upcycled into something new.
So look out for those 'past their best wooden bowls' at the Thrift Shop
and get painting. :)

I LOVE monkey pod (acacia) wooden bowls. I pick them up any time I see them. They make great little holders for jewelry, paper clips, etc.
