Pretty Christmas Paper Makes the Most Adorable Tree

I found the most gorgeous Christmas paper last week. It is thick and pretty and the colours are quintessentially Scandinavian. Not to mention the vintage feel of the ornaments... it's just perfect!! Grab some of your favourite paper and make this perfect little tree for all of your small spaces.
This is such a cute project and all you need is a left over piece of tree branch, twig and some pretty Christmas paper.

Start with a 6" long piece of a thick tree branch and twig about a foot long.
To make the base of the tree, drill a hole in the middle of the stump, add a dab of wood glue and wedge in the twig.
It will take about 50 squares to make a nice full Christmas tree. The largest squares should be about 4.5-5" and then make them smaller and smaller until the smallest ones are about an inch and a half.
When you have all of your squares cut out, loosely fold the squares corner to corner and add a little slit going in both directions. The holes should be just big enough to fit the twig through.
Before feeding the papers onto the twig, crumple each one. This will add some texture to the tree once you get it put together.
Stack the squares on the twig from biggest to smallest and top of your new tree with a pretty bow.
These little paper trees are just perfect to add to your mantle or fill in a small space that needs a touch of Christmas. Pair them with this Scandinavian inspired sign for an extra special space.

I made 2. I could not find the thicker paper like used in the tutorial, but this was thicker than regular wrapping paper. I think I made my stem too long so it took more paper but they look ok.
