Lavender Dining Room

When we moved into our 100-year-old home, the dining room had a window blocked up and was dark and dreary. We moved some furniture in as place holders but after two years, I finally got around to giving the ol' girl some life! I took a risk and went lavender on the walls, but tried to glam them up a bit with this amazing fabric. A wall of collected plates, some thrift store chargers turned mirrors, industrial DIY curtain rods, a Craigslist file cabinet and stenciled wall art come together in this bright happy and eclectic room! Dinner party anyone?
These rattan chargers were $2 at Goodwill and some simple round mirrors set on the inside help round out this plate wall. The rhino head was a Homegoods score that I spray painted white.
Here's how the room looked during our house tour… notice anything the previous owner covered up?! (Hint… rhymes with lindow.)
Here's how the dining room looked a few months before the redesign… much different!
The chairs are from ebay and recovered and the file cabinet got an ombre treatment with chalk paint.
I sewed the curtains and hung them on these DIY industrial curtain rods. The painting in the background is a flea market favorite with some silver rub-n-buff on the frame.
I stenciled the first few passages from a favorite, Goodnight Moon, and then made the simple frame out of 1 x 2s.
