Have you seen those beautiful linen closets that look so organized and decorated? Well, here is a step by step on how to create a lovely linen closet that magazine worthy.

Step 1: To begin your organizing project you need to select a room, space or area to organize. We are going to use my linen closet as an example.

Step 2: Now it is time to start planning. This is a very important part to carrying out a well organized space.

Step 3: Find pictures of closets that make you smile or that has details that you want to incorporate into your closet.

Step 4: Make sure to write down what it is you like about the picture. Believe me you will forget why you picked some photos. I love that this photo has a Farmhouse sign and a light.

Step 5: Now for the fun part! Just enjoy picking out things you like and you can invite other family members who live in your home to do the same. Just remember that the more people who get involved the more challenging it is to make everyone happy.

Step 6: Okay, you are almost finished with your research. Look at all your photos and ask yourself what do they all have in common. I noticed I was gravitating towards neutral colors, baskets and some old fashion touches like antique crocks.

.

Step 7: Take some measurements of your closet. Measure the width, depth and height. Now draw out the closet on paper or computer and start sketching in what you are thinking. Now it is time to shop.

Step 8: It is time to organize. Remove everything from your closet and begin by stacking items according to the basket they will go in and place them on the shelves. You may have to adjust a little because many times things don't work out exactly like you planned but that is okay. Sometimes the best designs come because we had to rethink a little.

Here are a few tips that have helped me over the years. Using baskets helps a great deal. Place like items in each basket. In my linen closet I put twin sheets in one basket, queen in another and so on. The crock is holding bars of soap.

And the big laundry basket in the bottom has blankets inside of it. See how putting items in baskets or bins really de-clutter a space.

I hope this tutorial will help you to organize your closets or any space. For more info on how to organize check out the post below.
