Vintage Porch Glider Restoration

This is how the vintage porch glider looked when we first bought it.
This is how it looked when we sent it to its new owner in Scottsdale, AZ. It was disassembled, sand blasted, repaired as necessary, primed, powder coated in bronzed brown and reassembled. New custom cushions were made using outdoor fabric.
Details on the arm were coated in Ultra Chrome.

In this case the medallions along the front of the glider were coated to blend in rather than stand out.
Our mission is to preserve vintage metal outdoor furniture for future generations. We restore it to its former glory using state of the art materials. We do custom work for people who already own their furniture as well as restoring and selling pieces that we acquire.

Do you need to place plywood down on the springs, which go under the cushions? It seems like the plywood may make it too rigid to sit and defeat the purpose of the springs. Looking for some input on that topic.

    Thanks

    Chris

I have a similar glider. Rather than the large round coils for the seat base, mine is a series of springs like a web. I need to replace the entire seat base. Any ideas on where to start??

Where did you get the cushions? I have the same glider and need replacement cushions.

Hi, Lauren. I had my cushions custom made by a reputable upholsterer. I would let them do all measuring and tell you how much yardage you will need for your particular glider. There are no ready made cushions to my knowledge that fit old gliders. Good luck!
