You don't have to live near water to enjoy nautical decor! Painted oars look great on your walls and hint at your secret love of canoeing (or maybe you just love oars.) Who knows!
Figure out your designs for your oars. You can download a printable coloring sheet on my blog to help you with this process. Start taping off your design with painters tape.
Paint the background colors first. You might need a few coats of paint for good coverage. Then remove the tape and paint the other colors desired.
Paint any details left by hand. For example, I had to hand paint the arrow on the red oar.
When they were dry, I lightly sanded the edges to give the oars a worn look.
I attached suede cord to the handles to make the oars easy to hang.
Then I hung the oars to give a fun, nautical look to my basement.
