Cabinet for a Friend

by Ginny O
My friend had a cabinet she wanted something done with. It was old and worn but I saw a diamond in the rough.
I filled in the gouges and missing chunks on the top and it was time to play. She chose the colors and then turned me loose.
I painted wooden half balls from the craft store gold and applied them to the finished piece with epoxy.
She wanted red poppies on the piece somewhere, so this is where I put them. I'm no artist, but I think they turned out alright.
Gold doodles and a diamond. The gold feet and gold inside the cross pieces were planned. The doodles just came out.
A single gold diamond on each side.... I couldn't help it. Fortunately, she loved it. I was kind of hoping she'd hate it so I could keep it though.

That is really clever and very well executed. Serious painting with sort of a Mackensie Childs vibe going on! Congratulations! Your friend should treasure that forever and have a really valuable piece to pass on.

I'm working on a desk using a Mary Engelbreit theme similar to this. What did you use for the checkerboard top?
