Repurposed Dresser Into a Desk

We were in desperate need of a desk when redecorating the office. This 1970s dresser was on it's way to the thrift store when an idea popped into my head to save it. All it took was a little elbow grease, and it soon started a new life as a cute desk!
Here is the finished product, dresser to a desk.
And the before. Can you believe it's the same thing??
To start, I had to demolish the drawers and rip out 6 of them along with their supports.
Then I added a top using particle board, supported it with two legs, and trimmed it with molding.
I trimmed the bottom edge and the top edge with molding, then added some corbels underneath to complete the look.
The inside was then framed with fabric covered foam board.
Here's a before and after of it again.

This is a great makeover. I am wondering how sturdy the desk area is. Does the piece of board give it sturdiness? I think I would like to use this in a new apartment to divide the living room and dining room.
