Ok so this is not a pretty / sexy or inspiring project, however, it is practical... And it's one of my favorites.
In the Uk we seem to have loads of nest of tables that people dont want any more.
I think they are looked upon as old fashion ed.
As I was making my porch table I used two of the tables on top of each other as a work bench, it was a bit unstable but really useful.

Nest of tables....make over time
First I wanted to make a work bench that would be sturdy.
So I decided I would cut holes it the biggest table then slot the other one in to the holes.
This proved to make the tables very strong
By sitting the table inside the bigger one I could work out where I needed to make the holes
Now, before we go any further into this project I just want to say right up front that I am NOT the best when it comes to cutting out holes, its not that important to the final project its just it looks a bit untidy.
Once I had my measurements in place I drilled the corner holes.
Then I used my very knackered old jigsaw to cut out the square bits for the legs to sit into.
Then with a bit of fine tuning the smaller table slotted into the bigger one.
I must say I was suprised at how snug they fitted together and how strong it felt.
Ideal for clammping wood on for sawing
Or for resting jobs on while you work on it.
Or for
Ideal as a sanding station and then painting bits.
Such a useful simple little unit.
Then when you finish with it just stack it away.

  • Nest of tables   (Given to me when I helped someone to move house)
  • I used my drill & jigsaw for this project

This genius! Perfect for a temporary work table for limited space. I like the look that all three tables stacked with a little sanding, finishing, paint would a make a lovely vintage etagere/shelf.
