I won't lie, this was not my first dumpster dive and probably wont be my last!

I got very lucky and found this great chrome coffee table base!
Only problem? It had been sitting in a barn for years and then tossed into the dumpster and it was DIRTY and RUSTY!
Surprisingly, it is a lot easier to remove rust than I expected!

To remove the rust off your chrome....

Here's what you need:
  1. Something to clean off your piece (I used Clorox wipes)
  2. Aluminum foil
  3. Warm water and Dish soap (mixed)
If you're doing this inside, a drop cloth is helpful, this can get messy!

First step is to clean your chrome. If yours is anything like mine, it had years of dirt and lots of creepy spider webs on it!

Once your piece is clean ball up a piece of aluminum foil and dip it into your soapy water.
Next you want to scrub down any areas that have rust.

That's it! So easy!
All Shiney and new..
