My neighbor gave me outdated fabric samples. Since I find it hard to say no to free things I think I can do something with I took them. Now I have a boatload of this fabric that is about 11 x 17. That isn’t a big piece of fabric. But I’ve managed to come up with a few things to make. Today I will show you easy stylish no sew coasters.
I bought cork coasters so that decided the size of the coasters.  So to start use one as a guide and draw out 4 circles on a foam sheet.  Cut them out carefully.
The next step is to cut 4 circles out from the fabric.  I used a small saucer as my guide because it is a little bit bigger than the cork.  After the 4 pieces were cut out I used the cork coaster as a guide again and drew a circle on the fabric.  Then take your scissors and clip all around the fabric to the penciled line.
The foam I bought has a sticky side so I stuck it on the fabric centered between the clipped pieces.  If the foam doesn’t have a sticky side, use glue on it to have it adhere.  Now use the hot glue gun to glue the fabric tabs all around the foam.
Use Mod Podge to protect the fabric, about 2 to 3 coats.  Allow drying between coats.  Glue the fabric wrapped foam on the cork coasters.
To finish the edge use rope and hot glue it all around each coaster.  Use a utility knife and carefully cut the rope close to the edge of the other side of the rope.  Repeat 3 more times.
These make cute little hostess gifts as well as having custom made coasters for your own use.  You can make a set for every occasion and have fun with it.

When you wrap the rope around 3x is it directly on top of previous rope or does it go outward? The picture looks like only 1 x wrapped with rope?

What's the purpose for the foam? Why not just adhere your fabric directly to your cork coasters?

Be aware that unless you use the ModPodge sealer that waterproofs the finish, you will have fabric coming loose from its backing when it gets wet. Just saying....
