DIY Wall Art for Your Home

To create your own DIY wall art you'll be using Gelli Arts® Gel Printing Plates. These reusable printing plates are made out of gel. They have an extra sensitive surface that allows it to imprint any texture.

So you can use upcycled materials that you have in your home such as bubble wrap, plastic grids, foam stamps, stencils, leaves and string to create unique and beautiful prints.

Even better? You can make multiple prints in a half hour or less!

You can learn more about these gel printing plates as well as discover additional step-by-step photos and DIY wall art ideas by visiting the original tutorial. You can find my original tutorial at Soap Deli News blog here.
Begin by covering your work surface to protect it from paint. Then apply a few drops of acrylic paint to your gelli plate.

Use a brayer to smooth the paint out across the surface of the entire plate.
Now press any non-shiny paper (or fabric) firmly onto the gelli plate with the paint side up. Once you remove the paper your now have the background for your first gelli print!
Using a complementary or contrasting color of paint to the one you just used, add a few drops of paint to the gelli plate you just used. Use your brayer to once again spread the paint over the surface of your gelli plate.

Now place a stencil of your choice on top of the gelli plate. (The paint side of your gelli plate should be facing upwards.)

Now press the paper you just printed, image side down, firmly on top of the gelli plate and stencil, then remove.
Congratulations! You just made the second layer of your gelli print! See how easy this is? You'll be on your way to creating your own DIY wall art for your home in no time!

(To learn how to use your gelli plate at this stage to create a ghost print, along with other cool techniques, check out the full tutorial here.)
Continue creating your gelli print by repeating the previous steps with different stencils and found or upcycled materials.
Alternately, you can also roll paint onto a stamp to add to your gelli prints.
Here’s a shot of me with my first ever gelli print! These are so quick and easy to create that I made several different prints.

To create DIY wall art for your home, simply mat or frame your finished gelli prints as desired.
And my friend, Bambi's, first ever gelli print!
You can also use the same technique for making DIY wall art to also create handmade cards for birthdays and holidays for friends and family!

I hope you'll give this project a try! It really is so much fun especially with friends to enjoy the process with you!
