Updated Desk for Teenager Who Loves to Travel

My teenage daughter wanted to keep this hand-me-down "family heirloom", but the wood-stain finish didn't fit the decor in her new bedroom. I used a combination of ideas from Hometalk and Pinterest to update the desk with results that make us smile!
"Before" 60's era desk
I painted the desk a light gray using instructions for painting furniture from www.centsationalgirl.com/2011/04/how-to-paint-furniture.
To accentuate the darling design details of the desk, I added striping in peacock blue.
Using Mod Podge, I decoupaged sections of European city tourist maps to the drawer fronts. My younger daughter chose chrome spray paint to update the wood knobs for her sister's desk. I custom-ordered a glass top so she can place favorite pictures and postcards on the top of the desk.

I Love what you did to this desk. The stripe down the center adds character and the maps on the front of the drawers is a perfect touch. I'm sure your daughter is thrilled with this and that's what is important. How very special for her.
