So, for this week's challenge, I have upgraded 2 lawn chairs that I bought on Craigslist 5 years ago. The Arizona sun is so harsh on anything outside!
These chairs had green cushions when I bought them that were already starting to fade. We have a fire pit and embers from it had burned a few holes in them. Over time they got torn and the filling was bunched up pretty bad. They had to go....
I cleaned up the frames, they are very sturdy and in good condition.
I used Rustoleum 2x spray paint, with paint and primer in one. The color was ivory silk, in a satin finish. Usually, I like a shiny finish, but in Arizona, I felt it was a better idea NOT to have shiny finish on the frame because the arms of the chairs would get really hot.
I sprayed each chair, doing 2 light coats and using 1 can of spray paint per chair. What a difference for $3.89 huh?
I bought these thick, comfy cushions at WalMart for $22.99 each and now they look like brand new chairs! 
So for about $26.00 for each chair, I breathed new life into my lawn chairs. Take that Arizona sun!!

Bite the bullet and have the metal powder coated. They will be like new and will not flake, peel or fade. Did this to an old heavy wrought iron table and chairs and everyone thought I had a new set. Worth the dollars especially if it was an expensive set.

I was given a whole patio table & chairs set. The bottoms of the legs on the chairs are rusted. Is it possible to fill that area in to make them stable again? The chairs are like the ones shown in Michelle, from AZ post.

It depends on how much damage there is from the rust. If the structure is compromised, I wouldn't chance it. You don't want anyone getting hurt if a chair collapses.

I also live in the Arizona desert and I want to know how you keep that hottub cover so nice. Mine only lasted about five years and which time it started peeling and tearing. I managed to keep it alive an extra three years by using rubberized roof coat and a bunch of black pigment I managed to convince the clerk at Home Depot to give (I provided a large pill bottle and just asked.) But that has now worn out as well.
Is there some product you use to keep yours so nice?
Were these metal chairs or plastic resin?
They do look beautiful!
I have done a similar job on my wrought iron four chairs but find within a few months or less the paint starts to chip off. Should I be using some sort of primer? I used a paint brush a very tedious job, didn't think spray paint would be as durable?
