Pantry Barn Door

Finally we were able to make the barn doors for the pantry we built...
still have trim to do and adding the clavos,the handles,floor guides and carriage hooks
1st we pre-measured and cut all the pieces using 1"x 4"..cutting the length to 74 1/2"
since it was raining and cold outside we had to construct in our living room... we laid the boards out and put the header on.
we pre-drilled each board to prevent splitting...then screwed them together with 1 1/4" screws
center brace and bottom piece attached the same way...
we then drilled the holes needed for the barn door hanging hardware...
we attached the bolts and hung the 1st door...
same process for the 2nd door....pre-drill and then screwing the boards together
and then we hung the second door
Finally we have both doors done and up
Side pieces going in....each side has a 2"x6"@8'long
We predrilled 9 holes spaced 9&1/8th inch apart for the clavos which then got a touch of gorilla glue to ensure they stay in.
Again each area is measured on the other trim piece
The doors were also given additional trim on outer edges with 1"x4" boards cut to fit between top and center pieces and also center and bottom piece.
Once all was done I applied a clear water resistant sealer
Then we measured to put the 6 remaining clavos on the center pieces of the door

it really is easy and low cost,,since we had the wood the total cost is really just what I am waiting on and an additional item....but if you purchase the wood,pine 1"x4";they average around 2 dollars each

This really looks nice, I would like to put barn doors across our bathroom which has two doors but did not know if we would need extra support above the doors since it is a mobile home. Did you do anything extra for added support and where did you get the hardware?
