Wanted a little oasis of sorts as I am allergic to grass, this is what I did to my backyard.
I tore out the old fencing and replaced with new slats and galvanized aluminum.
Poured a 12’ x 12’ concrete pad, removed all grass in backyard and competed fencing all around the property. Outlined where I wanted beds.
You can see where beds will be and walkway to fire pit I installed.
Fire pit with bricks laid out around it.
Flower bed on right side of yard.
Doggie area.
Fire pit and beds.
This is layout of what I wanted to do to create the fire pit.
Fire pit completed, brick white-washed, 3-sided trellis by pit. This process has taken over 2 years and I am still working on plants and trees that will withstand the Houston weather.

Why did you use or what is the purpose of the album slats. Seems it would be hotter in the yard when sun shinning on them and burn the flowers as well.

Would that galvanized steal get hot in 120+ degree weather?

A terrific looking place and such hard work! Looks gorgeous. Why did you use the metal panels though? We completely covered our privacy fencing with tropical reed fencing which we love, but we live in FL. and have the tropical themes inside and out. Thanks for showing us that great yard!!

I also love your galvanized panels. I really like that look. I think I'd want to use a clear sealer over my galvanized panels to prevent them from rusting over time. I know galvanized metal isn't suppose to rust but it does. Don't believe me just take a look on your next scenic drive and see all the rusted barn roof's you pass. We built a pool house and tree house for our sons using Galvanized roofing and it didn't take long for them to start rusting. I've seen one other fence don't like this but they added a section of lattice enclosing with wood trim and made above ground planter boxes the length of their fence and it was real pretty too! For those people who worry about the heat and have a small or very sunny yard then this might not be for you. For those who don't like the industrial feel of using metal and wood mixed you could always paint those galvanized panels any color you want to create a whole feel and accent point in your yard.
