Let’s Frame Things up. What a Difference a Frame Makes Part 2

Bought some art work on line that wasn’t very expensive, but discovered just how expensive it can be to frame it.
New picture that I framed using baseboard moulding
Started with 4 1/4“ baseboard moulding and painted it the color I wanted just using latex paint
I used painters tape along the length of baseboard only exposing the top edge of the profile. About 1/2 “.
I used rust oleum metallic silver and sprayed it on the exposed top edge of the baseboard
After spray painting the top boarder.
This is what the baseboard looks like after I pulled off the painters tape. I used a light blue gray paint on the baseboard, so in the pictire you can’t see much of a contrast.
I mitered my four corners. I glued the 4 pieces and stapled together on the back of baseboard
Picture of mitered corner. I also added a painted white 1 x 2 to the outside edge of the frame. The frame then gets attached to the art work. How it will be attached will be determined as to whether it is just poster board or canvas. You may have to attach nailers to outside edges of the canvas. And then nail through the nailers into the back side of your frame.
The cost of your frame will depend on the size of the piece you are framing and how many layers you use. This one was probably somewhere around $25 A large piece and two mouldings.
Carved wood medaleon wall art gets a more dimensional, and defined upscale look when it bordered with a frame for under $12.
Not just for art work I’m sure you’ve seen this before. Just a “ho hum “ hollow core door
That’s what these doors look like before adding the wood trim frame work.
This is another example of framing a picture with baseboard moulding. It also has been trimmed out with a silver trim piece added to outside of frame. The frame shows a bite of damage because I literally dropped it off a ladder. Was not a happy camper. Cost about $20
This pretty little plaque looks lost and sad
Put a frame around it and you’ve added some wow factor to it for under $10.
