Easy DIY 4th of July Candle Holders
Every year I host a big backyard cook out for the 4th of July. The problem is that I spend so much time cooking for this event that I don't have a lot of time left for decorating. So I'm always looking for really easy ways to add some red, white and blue to my party decor, and these super simple candle holders definitely fit the bill.
All you need to get started is a tall glass, small vase or mason jar, some white rice, and blue and red food coloring. You want liquid food color for this...the gel version doesn't work very well.
Divide the rice into 3 parts - one will be red, one will be blue and one will be left white. I used ziploc bags for this, but you could also use small bowls.
Put a few drops of blue food coloring in the first batch and mix it up.
Do the same with the red food coloring in the next batch.
Then pour the rice in layers into your glass, vase or mason jar.
Add a tealight candle to the top and you are done! I like to use flameless candles for this since there's no mess and no risk of anything catching on fire.
Then put your candles out wherever you want to use them!
Since they don't cost much to make, I use them everywhere that needs a little 4th of July color.

Great idea, but I would have made them for Memorial Day, then used them for Flag Day, through July 4th! Maybe red/white/green for Christmas?
Love this idea! Does the dye soak up.quickly? Was just thinking if I was too hasty and poured it into the jar that maybe there would be dye residue on the glass...?🤔
