This is the perfect time of year to make some beautiful applique clay flower pots! Why pay for expensive flower pots when you can DIY using Efex appliques? You are going to love this easy technique and, they are going to transform your outdoor or indoor space too.
This project is so much fun too. I love the way these applique flower pots turned out. They are so easy to make and you can have all three done within a few short hours.

Let’s get started!
What you will need:
  1. Clay Flower Pots
  2. Paint – I used Fusion Mineral Paint
  3. Efex Applique Moldings
  4. Rapid Fuse Glue
  5. Pebeo Gedeo Gilding Paper Craft Wax
And that’s it!
I started with three clay pots. Two were the same size and one was a tad larger.
Be sure to watch the video tutorial below. I walk through all the steps you need to create this stunning Efex Applique Clay Flower Pots!
Next, plan exactly where you want your Efex applique to go on your flower pot. Play around with different positioning as each design is unique and you can choose your applique placement anywhere you desire most.
In case you've never heard of Efex's applique moldings, here's some general info about them.

Efex is the only bendable moldings and appliques available today. There are many types of moldings and appliquĂ©s but until Efex they were not bendable. This means that they must either be applied to a completely flat surface or have the gaps filled after application.
They simply flex to fit any surface they’re applied to. They can also be stretched up to 2% to ensure a tight fit. No special tools are required beyond a pair of scissors or knife and a good contact cement.

Next, once your paint is dry, that’s when you will add your Efex Appliques. Be sure to glue the edges as that’s where the applique will meet the clay pot. In the image below, you can see how I placed the glue around the outer edges of the applique. I also added a few dabs of Rapid Fuse to the center as well for extra assurance – you don’t have to add glue to the center just the outer edges will do.
Next, carefully place your Efex applique exactly where you preplanned it. You can always pull it up quickly before it dries to reposition if you made a mistake. Once it’s in place, hold it for few seconds until the glue adheres to the surface.

Tip: If you get some glue on your fingers, no worries. I used a course nail file and gently buff them to remove the glue. Works like a charm!
Once your applique has thoroughly adhered, you can begin to pain the applique. I like to add two coats to ensure I get all the nooks and crannies covered well with paint.

Now, it’s time to add your gold embellishment. You can add any colors you want during this stage. I love this gold Pebeo Gedeo Gilding Paper Craft Wax â€“ it’s great for so many projects and always adds a beautiful touch. Visit my blog to find out how it transformed a pumpkin into fairy magic!

It’s so easy to work with too and lasts for such a long time as you only need a very little bit.
Once you’ve added the detail work, let it dry for about an hour and you are ready to add some beautiful flowers to your pots. These beautiful applique pots will brighten up your outdoor or indoor space and the best part is, they are one of a  kind and you made them!
The array of colors it adds to my front porch really captures attention. If you love pops of color then this project is for you too!
