Colorful Gender Neutral Nursery Full of DIY!

From the moment I found out I was expecting I was so excited to work on a nursery for my baby! We decided to be surprised by the baby's gender so I created a colorful nursery grounded by shades of aqua and turquoise. Everyone knows that welcoming home a new baby is very expensive, so I looked for unique ways to keep the costs low and the adorable factor high!
This colorful rug laid the groundwork for a truly colorful, fun nursery. My "why'd the chicken artwork" is the perfect, cheeky piece for a little one's room. I took the pic myself while on vacation with my hubby in Key West.
I painted a hand-me-down cherry changing table a shade of sunny yellow to coordinate this solid piece of furniture with my light and airy design. Details here: http://embracemyspace.com/2013/09/19/nursery-progress-changing-things-up/
A DIY chalkboard stripe dresser helps keep us organized. Details here: http://embracemyspace.com/2013/07/15/inspired-design-challenge-chalkboard-stripe-dresser/
A cardstock mobile is the perfect piece to hang above the crib and to show off the polka-dot ceiling. Details here: http://embracemyspace.com/2013/07/29/inspired-design-challenge-diy-nursery-mobile/
I customized Target drapery panels with a colorful Otomi fabric to make them extra special. Details here: http://embracemyspace.com/2013/08/11/nursery-curtains-customized-on-a-dime/
I used a small swatch of the curtain fabric to make a custom pillow. This chair, which belonged to my husband's great grandmother, was given new life with a fresh gray upholstery job.
A little glue, cardstock and lyrics from a favorite song came together to create this DIY mirror art! Details here: http://embracemyspace.com/2013/07/22/inspired-design-challenge-diy-typography-mirror/
I dressed up plain old cube storage from Target with fun cardstock! Details here: http://embracemyspace.com/2013/08/07/nursery-storage-outside-the-box/
Any guesses on the baby's gender?!?!

It's a BOY!

I'm so happy I spent almost 9 months on this room because my son and I are just so happy spending time here! Visit my blog for the full details on this entire project!
