Upcycling an Old Table Using Salvaged Palletwood

I wanted to create a one of a kind modern piece for our bedroom and when I saw this old table, I knew it was perfect for what I had in mind. As I cleaned it, I noticed the top part was damaged and decided to create a brand new table top from the pallets I had at home.

I cleaned the table and sanded it.

I measured out and cut pieces of wood using a table saw and slightly sanded the edges

I then decided on the pattern and glued each piece of wood individually using wood glue.

Once dry, I sanded the top smooth and created a frame around it using some wooden strips.

Once glue was dry I used wood filler for the gaps

Sand until smooth

I then stained it using dark woodstain.

Once the stain had dried I poured two coats of Decoart Pouring topcoat for a glossy finish.

The frame was painted using Decoart Satin enamel paint.

New hardware added.

Hello, I did not see if you made your new top the same size as the old one, or if you made it larger? Just asking, because you said you glued your boards to the old top, but in none of the pictures did I see anything that refereed to cutting it down to match the size of the original top.

Hi. Did you start the pattern in the center of the table?

Did you fill in the discolored nail holes also?
