My Eclectic Living and Dining Room Update

Spring is finally here and summer is on her way! Let me just say, being raised in California where the weather is gorgeous most of the year and moving to Wyoming where you get 3 maybe 4 good months of beautiful weather you get a little over excited when the warmer days do finally decide to show up. Anyway, I was inspired to make my living and dining room bright and airy. I shopped my home, bought discounted items, and scored some really unique flea market and thrifted finds . I also repurposed a few items I had laying around in my shed. I love color, I love uniqueness and quirkiness. My home will always be a collection of the things I love and things that have a story to tell.
We own a split level home which are very popular on this side of the country. I love the idea of my living/kitchen and dining area being on the top floor but if you know a split level you know it can be difficult to work with. LoL. We are currently remodeling the basement and when that is all done the upstairs, but for now we just work with what we have.
I love the fact that my home is unique, made with love, sweat, and tears...Literally. : ) It may not be everyone's cup of tea but with 7 billion people in the world lets hope we all have a bit of uniqueness to us.
I originally had a gallery wall of vintage bird prints in those white frames you see over in the left but I wanted some bigger scale frames so when I spotted these gorgeous green and blue one's at T.j. Maxx I had to buy them and put some vintage flower prints I had from a collection of old flower, bird, and herb books I have. It works beautifully with the rest of our home.
I'm still on the hunt for some nice affordable chairs for my living room but until then I have just covered these with nice king size chenille blankets I picked up for 12 dollars.
I repurposed this buffet with the intent on selling it but I just fell in love with it to much to sell. It's kind of hard to place in our living room but I found a spot for it after 3 hours of rearranging.
I hand painted the birch trees. I was having a gloomy day thinking about an old friend who passed away and when I'm in a way I paint.
I just LOVE my dining room. It has gone through many changes, I never could seem to get it the way I liked it until now. Our dining room is soooo small. I have had this yellow chrome vintage table for at least a decade or so just hanging around. My other table was just to large. I swapped it out for this little guy who just sat in the corner of every garage I owned. LOL. I then painted some bench seats that came with a broken table at an auction. The curio cabinet I also scored from a flea market that I painted and put my beautiful green and blue vintage glass pieces in.
This print though! I found this vintage Turner print of flamingos at our local flea market. It was $60 and let me tell you I walked around and around and around again debating on whether to buy it. I then it you know what I mean, and it was going between 100-300 dollars so that made my mind up that it had to be mine. The original frame was a yellow stained very ugly color. I just spruced it up a bit with some white. I love it so much!
My eclectic dining room... A collection of everything I love!
I really needed a smaller scale side table next to my sofa. I searched thrift stores, Target, Flea Markets and so forth for one that I could not find. So I found an old lazy susan in my shed and a plant stand I wasn't using. I just painted the top of the susan and glued it on top of the plant stand and voila...the perfect little side table.
Originally this large wood mirror was dark gey/brown but I white washed it for a more lighter and airy look. The frames I had my bird prints in and I just switched them out for a few photos I took of my kids and one that I painted to add a bit of quirk.

What a happy, creative room. Makes me want to stay in and have a game night. Love the flamingo print, we had one of his mirrors hanging in our dinning room when I was little.
