Our breezeway renovation is still in process, but I couldn't wait to share a progress update. Truth be told, this room had a bit of a smell to it I couldn't get rid of and removing the carpet did the trick!
Minimal DIY effort and maximum results for achieving a French Country Breezeway.
This project started with carpet removal.
Our breezeway is an interior extension of our home to a bonus room and the previous owners smoked and kept their pet in this room. I tried to get rid of the odor, but was unsuccessful and knew the carpet had to go. Once the carpet was gone so was the smell!
With the carpet gone, I decided to go ahead and paint the walls and trim with leftover paint from our main home renovation. We lived with glue on the concrete from the carpet removal for a while, but eventually hired professionals to complete a floor grind.
As shown in this photo, the difference was amazing! With the floor grind, it feels like we have brand new concrete. We still need to install our new fans and add a headboard ceiling, but I'm so happy with how our French County breezeway is coming along.
