Transform a Drawer Into Trendy Shelving

Sometimes I visualise an idea, fall in love with it, but it can then take months or even years before I make the idea a reality! For a couple of years I have been thinking about transforming a drawer into a shelf, I am so glad I have. The project is quick and easy to execute.
Start by unscrewing the drawer from its drawer runners and removing from old furniture, I used an old bedside table.
Cut a shelf to fit across the middle of your drawer, measuring for accuracy.
Prepare the surface for chalk paint. Sand with a fine grain sandpaper, then wipe down to remove any dust. Paint the sides and the shelf you have just made with chalk paint. Allow to dry, add a second layer if needed.
Roughly cut to size the wallpaper for lining the back. Place inside and finger fold and press. Cut along the fold so you have a good fit.
Apply an even layer of PVA glue to the back of the drawer. Add the wallpaper.
Using a cloth wipe all over the wallpaper to ensure there are no bubbles.
Once dry apply a top coat of PVA to protect the wallpaper.
Insert shelf and nail into position.
Finish the shelving unit with a coat of wax over the chalk paint.
The drawer shelf unit is perfect for many uses, in the bathroom, garden.
or your craft room...
To hang on the wall pre-drill holes through the back of the shelving unit, hold in position. Using a pencil mark through the holes, drill and insert raw plugs into the wall, finally screw the shelving unit into position.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea. Great for the bathroom as you have shown, the kitchen or even in the bedroom and craft room. A great piece to also use in an entry way or on the porch with a few potted plants. Thanks for sharing.
