You can never have enough Christmas/Holiday decor right? Well, I truly don't have a lot but since I have been blogging I have made several great projects to spruce up my holiday decorating. These Ho Ho Ho throw pillows are one of my favorites.
I started by cutting a drop cloth into the pillow sizes. I wanted small throw pillows this time so I used a 12" x 12" size plus a 5/8" seam allowance all the way around.
Print out the letters you want for the "Ho Ho Ho's" I like lowercase and you can choose any type of "chunky" font that you like or a script font.
I didn't think the "h" was quite tall enough so after I cut out my letters, I cut the "h" and moved the top up to extend it a little bit.

Trace around the letters with a pencil onto the front of each cut pillow.
Use acrylic paint mixed with several drops of textile medium to create your own fabric paint. Use the foam brush to paint the letters staying inside the pencil lines as best as you can.
To finish off the letters I used a Black Sharpie Fabric marker to outline them. Make sure the paint is completely dry.

I also used a round foam brush to create some fun polka dots next to the letters. And the sharpie marker to create some swirls. You can see them on the finished photos.
You will need to heat set the letters when you are done. This keeps the paint from washing away or fading to badly when washed. Use a dry, hot iron and place it over the design. Hold it for about 20 - 30 seconds then move over and do then next area. You could also place them in a hot dryer for about 20 mins.
Place the fabric right sides together and stitch around the edge leaving enough room at the bottom for the stuffing.

Then stuff them and stitch it closed. You are all done!
They are so cute and I love to get them out during the holidays. What do you think?
