Sometimes a makers just got to make! That’s what I felt about this paper flower wall decoration once the idea popped into my head. I'd always fancied making paper flowers and this was a perfect way to showcase them.

I also have a lovely pineapple stenciled table (see here) in my lounge and thought that a piece of pineapple wall art would look great above it!

Why a pineapple? I would be lying if I said it was my favorite fruit (that’s mango), it’s in my top ten though. But, it’s the best-looking fruit as it comes in its own cool package and screams summer to me!
What you need to make this lovely decoration is thick 180 gsm Italian crepe paper, an old frame, and some foam board.
The first thing I did was spray paint the frame with chalk paint.
The next thing was I cut a piece of foam board to fit the frame.
I cut out a piece of green crepe paper in the shape of a pineapple body and stuck it to the foam board.
I made the leaves of the pineapple by cutting green crepe paper into a leaf shape and then sticking the leaves to some floristry wire. I used a hot glue gun for this.
These leaves were then attached to the foam board by simply punching the wires through the foam board.
I made several crepe paper succulents in various sizes for the pineapple background. I colored the tips of these succulents with pastels. Full details on the blog post.
I stuck the succulents to the paper pineapple cut out shape.
I then made lots of paper flowers in different colors. These included paper roses, tulips, peonies, and daisies. There are instructions on how to make these flowers or links to the tutorials on my blog. (It would take to long to explain here).

You can of course just use shop bought faux flowers instead of making your own.
However, the crepe paper flowers are quite simple and fun to make.

After making a few different crepe paper flowers, I was confident enough to design my own paper flowers using the techniques I learned. I used oil pastels on some flowers to add an additional color to the crepe. It was fun to experiment and make up flowers.
Like with the leaves I attached the paper flowers to the foam board by piercing it with the wire stems.
Carry on adding flowers until you are happy with the arrangement.
This floral pineapple makes a lovely summer wall decoration and would be great for a summer party. I love my happy sunny pineapple so much though I think I will be keeping it up all summer.
