A neighbor was throwing out and old table and of course asked me if I wanted it.
This was after I cleaned the rust off of it. I used a spray bleach and lots of elbow grease.
I bought some craykon raffia striped paper string. I started gluing it on the table from the outer edge in. This was very time consum8ng but also very easy. I could watch tv and just keep going.
This is how it looked partially finished. As I ran out of the string late last night I had to purchase some at Walmart. It was a little thinner but by this time I wanted to finish it.
This is what it looked liked finished. I knew I needed a glass top for it. When checking around they were very expensive. I decided to go to my favorite used furniture store and found a table with a thick glass top (26 inch round glass). It was a great price and now the iron table bottom will be another project.
Looks even better in person.

I really like what you have done. I'm wondering if you know how many yards of raffia you needed to get the job done for your 26" diameter table.
