Recyling Glass Bottles Into Halloween Decor - Part 2

When I posted my Scarecrow Bottles a while back, I received lots of great comments. One in particular, asked why I didn't paint the bottle green and make a witch? Truth be told, I was thinking about it but my artist skills are minimal and the nose was the part that would be the hardest for me on the witch. I mulled it over for a while and wondered if air dry clay would work for a nose. I used it to make a carrot nose for my "Do you want to build a snowman?" ornament last year so I decided to give it go and try. Here is part one of the scarecrow bottles that describes in more details the making of a basic scarecrow. https://www.hometalk.com/diy/craft/seasonal-decor/scarecrow-bottle-fun-fall-decor-38896312
Here are the bottles that I used for this craft.
I removed the labels and used air dry clay to make some noses. The middle will be the witch and the left will be a ghost or ghoul. I know typically ghosts don't have noses but I loved the characters from Casper the Friendly Ghost and they had noses! I used hot glue to attach the noses to the bottle. I let my clay dry for over 24 hours mostly because I forgot about them.
I spray painted them. White for my ghost, green for my witch and beige for my scarecrow. Do you see the nostrils on my noses? My favorite part of these noses...
I thought a little green ink could sink into the crevices and make the nose look more realistic. I used some green alcohol ink here just dripping it on and letting it randomly drip down the sides.
Here I put black ink down my ghosts nose... I ended up putting some white over top and it turned out more grayish in the end.
I took paper plates and made them donut shaped to fit on the top of the bottle. I covered the scarecrow's paper plates with burlap and used plain black fabric for the witch. For the top of the scarecrow hat, I cut a rectangle and hot glued it to the donut shape and put it on the scarecrow.
I put the straw in first and then the hat but it would have been easier to put the hat on then the straw.
I tied the top of the hat shut with jute twine. Look at that straw... go back a picture, perfect straw then the hat messed it up. So, remember hat then straw.

For the top of the witch's hat, I cut a triangle shape and hot glued it into a cone shape. For the top of my ghost, I used rolled gauze that sticks to itself. I'm not sure about this yet, still mulling over if I like it or not. Maybe it needs to be less pointed on top.
I added faces with my Posca paint pens. I have them and love how vibrant they are. I am going to work some more on the witch's face and the ghost's face because they aren't quite right yet. The witch's eyes are too small.
Here they are with the original two scarecrows. If you make them, I would love to see them. If you could tag them petalsandchalk (That's me on Instagram) that would be fun to see what everyone's looks like. Happy Fall Y'all!
I think the new scarecrow is my favorite. Any characters that you think I should make from bottles? Dracula would be fun and I have been looking at a pickle jar and thinking it would be perfect for Frankenstein.
Want to know what my next project will be? See these pillows? What do you think this pile that has been sitting here for over a month is supposed to become? Can you guess?
I’m going to pair my bottles with pumpkins on my porch steps. Will post a picture if it all comes together.

I added black glitter to the eyes and mouth of my ghost and more gauze, now it’s perfect.

Just a fun Halloween trio rescued from the recycling bin.
